Anissa Swanzy for Mardi Gras Queen Home
 Anissa Swanzy Of SKD Studios is running to be Queen of United Way of Calvert County’s Mardi Gras. Every dollar raised by Anissa, earns her a vote. All money raised will benefit programs supporting the education, income and health of people in Calvert County. ABOUT ANISSA: Anissa Swanzy is a proud mother of Taylor, 12 and Blaine, 10, and owner of SKD Studios, Kitchens, Baths and Interior Design in Lusby. While interior design has always been her passion, she has joined the quest for queen of Mardi Gras to bring recognition to another cause she feels deeply about, the youth of our community. She has been discouraged by the lack of outlets for youth in the Lusby community, which is evident in the skate boarding that surrounds the shopping center where her business resides. She feels strongly that while the shopping center may not be the best place for such activities – there are not many other places for Lusby youth to go and do things that they are passionate about; like skateboarding. Uncomfortable with the idea of vying for a crown, she intends to run as the anti-queen, skateboard in hand. United Way of Calvert County’s focus on Youth Engagement initiatives in Calvert County inspired Anissa to organize fundraising events that promote and engage our youth, like a movie night at the Lusby shopping center. Movie Night is Friday November 4th at 7:00pm in the Lusby Commons Shopping Center, right out side of SKD Studios, next door to Starbucks. There will be food, drinks, and Calvert Kettle for sale. All proceeds support the Untied Way. Also in her bag of ideas is a kitchen giveaway and a joint fundraising wine & cheese reception with fellow candidate Mike Hart. “Putting effort into our young people will only help us all in the future,” says Anissa. VOTE FOR ANISSA SWANZY LIKE US ON FACE BOOK UPCOMING EVENTS OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT When: Friday, November 4th Where: Lusby Commons Shopping Center (Giant Shopping Center, Next Door To Starbucks) Why: To get together as a community and help raise money for the United Way to support the youth of our community!! THE MOVIE WILL BE OUTSIDE SO BRING A LAWN CHAIR AND A BLANKET IT MAY GET CHILLY! We will be selling hot dogs, Calvert Kettle Corn, Soda and Water - 100% of the proceeds will go to help the United Way.   | |
